weird

Well Thursday night at Harry's was totally weird...weird cause I knew that I wouldnt have to work saturday night. Thursday was a decent night only one moment of drama

This guy comes up around midnight and he wants to sign up to sing. I can tell by looking at him that he's going to be an asshole (its hard to explain that but after 7 years in the bar industry you are able to look a person in the face, and watch the way they carry themselves and you know they are going to be a pain in the ass). Man I'm tired of being right all the time. He "struts" up and asks to sign up to sing...at this time the list was full and I tried to tell him that in the nicest possible manner. So he looks at me with a disgusted look and a disgusted pissed off tone in his voice says oh right but if I had 20 bucks I bet you'd let me sing.

lets look at this for a moment

If you knew you would need to tip someone in order to get something you wanted.....why wouldn't you offer that money right away...?
Do people really think that being abrasive and shitty gets them what they want?

ok....back to karaoke night

this guy comes up a few minutes later and says

You know I'm the manager at Scottys..( a local bar and resturant ).You've seen me in here before I know YOU know who I am....my reply no...I've never seen you in here before (true) and I have no idea who you are( also true ) he looked shocke for a second and said ok fine! I brought a few people with me tonight and if you want to break up the monotony of the same people singing the same shit over and over again you'll do the right thing and let me sing. So I asked him...."What makes you so special?....these people have been in here since karaoke started at 9pm...when did you get here?...(1130pm was when he walked in)am I supposed to tell these people that they mean nothing and I'm gonna knock a few of them out of the rotation cause YOU are more important?.....and he said "no what I'm saying is that I'm local and I brought people in tonight and you should let me sing cause I'm supporting this business" my turn "so you and the 2 people you came in with 20 minutes ago are more important than the 70 something people that got here BEFORE you beacuse you are local....I said if you want to sing you're going to have to wait-----" at that point he cut me off and said "FUCK IT JUST FUCKIN FORGET IT".... I gave a quick nod to robert the bouncer at the door signaling to keep an eye on that guy....

heres another weird thing...
if you managed a local business WHY in gods name would you act like a jackass in public and bring shame to your employer, possibly hurting business at your establishment and possibly endangering your employment?

if he had been a little less aggressive he would have gotten a lot further.
after I told him the list was full if he had said....if someone cancels out or doesn't sing their song can you slip me in at the end somewhere?

I'd have said sure!
if he had tossed a couple bucks in the tip jar and asked me to do whatever I could to get him in...I would have
but instead he tried to use his "clout"....or his "game" if you will and that wont get you shit with me.

Everyone waits their turn.....EVERYONE
unless you are a mega rock star (and even then its a maybe until I see some ID) you are gonna wait to sing your song. All in the name of fairness
exceptions....Birthdays the birthday guy/girl/group gets 1 ( and only )song out of turn..this also applies to wedding parties and other large groups with special events
the other exception....money talks....drop 100 bucks in the jar and you're next! no questions no fights...(fair enough right?) I myself stick to these rules and I even follow them myself....cause if I dont follow my own rules no one else will.

My morals and principals are the foundation that I build my business on.....without them it would crumble to the ground...

One more Rule:

For the right price, BrightEyes will sell her spot on the list, but only to people who are nice to Kevin or can offer more then $20 (Price of karaoke CD).

AND... I got no special treatment on my Bday, so anyone wanting such treatment for no special reason can learn that in real life(tm), The KGOD is always right! sooooo.... they can PISS OFF (said in the best of Eddie Izzard Accent of course)

What was that guy thinking!? You are absolutely correct in treating him that way.

I heard a while back, When CK was there doing shows at Harry's. Some guy slid or threw the microphone across the room back to the KJ. The KJ was pissed because that was incorrect treatment of the equipment. Told the guy that if that happened again, he wasn't gonna sing again. The guy got pissy and told the manager, who called the owners of CK and they reprimanded the KJ. I wonder if it was the same guy.

I don't understand this mentality either.

Put me down on the list with BrightEyes.
